@mikeb2898 They're not begging, they're busking. You should pay based on whether you like the music. I definitely don't give to the guys who suck.
It is true that some outright beggars who are charismatic, sympathetic, or diligent make a middle-class living or better. My personal rule for beggars is to give exclusively to anyone who looks like they're over 60, and not worry too much about their personal lives. If you've made it that far I'm not going to judge you.

@jewsepy That's a kora, a West African instrument made from a calabash gourd. There are more kora videos on YouTube.
