I wrote, directed,shot and edited this 2007 documentary SEX,LIES AND ASPERGER as part of the requirements in the 2007 Masters Portfolio Seminar class of Professor Randall Blair at American University.

SYNOPSIS

University of Pennsylvania Clinical psychologist, Dr. Mary Riggs Cohen, and her former patient, Jacob Heinz, share their thoughts about what it means to live with the silent disability called ASPERGER SYNDROME (ALSO CALLED HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISM), a neurological disorder of the brain. Jacob Heinz was jailed in 2006 in a Bensalem, Pennsylvania Police Department sting operation via myspace.com where officers posed as a 13 year old girl and had sexual conversations. Given the skyrocketing autism epidemic bedeviling the United States, are adult men and women with asperger syndrome more likely to commit sexual crimes than others?

Long ago - All in our 20's. We were heading to the beach, two friends (no couples) and a friend of the girl who I didn't know.

That girl after meeting me, fell asleep, woke a short while later and said she dreamed I raped her.... I have no idea of what she meant - I can't read faces or body language. I turned around and took them home..

Relationships are impossible - very nice ladies have liked me, but I knew once they figured out I'm HFA it would end... Not fun - making nice girls cry..

Im absolutely convinced that I have Aspergers. This was interesting, thanks. Its hard to live with this, especially to relate & reconcile the way we see things with the authorities. I hope that the guy gets through prison alright, he's going to need help to adjust when he comes out, because alot of things he's going to experience inside prison, are going to make him angry and depressed.
