Looks like a really old locomotive to me. Most cars of that age with mostly original paint don't look too great either.

No, Depending on the horsepower rating, most had a 6 or 8 cylinder inline, that was either turbocharged or not.
The AS616 has an 8 cylinder turbocharged engine, Baldwin model 608A.
All 600 series engines had a 12.75 inch bore, and 15.5 inch stroke.

@onrr1726 Absolutely! We now have a diner, dome car, wood side box car and the 405 Superintendents car which was days from being scrapped to 98% restored

@redmus1959 I'll have to stop out again my grandfather lives out in Masa, AZ. I did get a number of photos of some of the equipment at the musuem when I stoped by that was around Febuary 2000. Are there any outher new items or cars aded to the collection sents then?

@onrr1726 You should visit again if you get the chance. We have made wonderful improvements. The people from Geneva are Dave & Janet. Their car is the Federal. They park it there a lot. Got to ride in her last year. Amazing trip.

@redmus1959 I'm been to that musem was there 11 years ago et some people who moved out there from Geneva, NY that store a passenger car there.

@amtraklover She is located at the Arizona Railway Museum 330 E. Ryan Rd. Chandler AZ. She still runs but it rains diesel dots when she does.

great loco...just amazing....SMS railroad has a baldwin AS616...its also a six axle unit and it sounds alot louder then this one..even when its idleing...great vid keep up the awsome work

Yes, Baldwin had a contract with Westinghouse. Earlier, they contracted General Electric.
