QR Freight offers seamless, rail-based transport and logistics solutions to customers needing to move coal, bulk (minerals and agricultural products), containerised (Internodal Freight) and general freight (Retail and Regional Freight). Our business provides a broad range of services including warehousing, shipping and distribution to a wide range of customers in many industries throughout Australia. It is our expertise and passion for our business which allows us to design and deliver innovative solutions to support the freight transportation, logistics and supply chain management needs of our customers across Australia. We pride ourselves on the long-term partnerships we build with our customers and we work constantly to improve our performance and service delivery so that our customers gain a competitive edge. The 421 class were essentially a follow-on from the 42 class, with the main difference being that the 421 class included a second cab, at the rear of the loco. Like the 42 class, most of their work was on mainline passenger and freight services. Half of the class have been sold to the Northern Rivers Railroad. 42106 was to be fitted with a gas turbine at one stage; however this did not go ahead.
