Baby skunks stomping, scooting, hand standing, Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins

Two baby skunks digging for grubs and play stomping. They poof their tail and handstand to show off their markings and look bigger, just like spotted skunks. They scoot backward so they can rush forward again. Here they are just playing. They were released back to the wild. These skunks are juveniles. They look big in this pic because I'm laying on my stomach on the lawn with the camera at ground level.I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. @Simplicityatitsbest1 If they are approached by a predator, they will stomp their feet to try to scare the animal away. They will poof up their tails to look bigger and show you their stripes. They will also do hand stands so you can really see their stripes. Then they will start aiming their butt at you. If you have not been scared away by this display, then they will spray you. Here they are just playing, kind of like practicing.

Awe, they are so cute. They love that stomp game. You can tell they are just screwing around, but being they are wild it would still make me a little nevous having my face that close to the business end.

Their vision as you know isn't that good. If I were to walk away, then walk back, they wouldn't recognize me and might let me have it, especially the smaller girl skunk. Females are always wilder, at least with wild skunks.

Adorable! This makes me grin stupidly like a gleeful little kid! :-D

I sooo much want to see skunks in real life, the nearest zoo with some is a three hour train ride away.

Yes... if it's legal in your state... it's expensive, though... they can't take processed foods. So, you'll have to prepare their meal times. Raw red meat could kill a skunk. they're omnivores. And yes.... when young, can be taught not to spray. If they like you enough, that is...
