@JohnnyH1982 Conquistadors were in Colorado in the late 1500s. Many conquistadors thought of their (to them) fantastical journeys in the New World as chivalric stories come to life. There are accounts of conquistadors reading knightly tales while crossing the Atlantic! So taking some poetic liberties, you could say there were "real knights" in Colorado, heh. Still, I respect the RA. I think the dispute between styles of modern jousting is idiotic. Respect the warriors and the athletes.

Yea this is called display jousting.
they should make this a sport, I would pay to see it
-
the real thing is a sword and no armor :D
-
What do you think jousting is? The point is to break the lance on your opponent... If they happen to knock the other off, then more points are awarded. Did you think they would spear eachother?
-
This is not real fucking jousting noobs the lances they use are weak and just break they cant actually knock their opponent off his horse or anything

theres rennaissance faires all over the US. i joust at the one in new york

Where were those much needed real jousters those real knights from Colorado in medieval times? oh wait... .... so that is why they called it the "New World" .... ah .. see I'm onto something there eh?

The biggest thing about the RA jousting ( I've competed there since 2003) and other jousting in England is that the balsa tip is connected to 7.5 feet of virtually unbreakable lance base. Yes, the balsa impact is likely less than a 1-1/4" dowel, but the dowel has the opportunity to break further down, the solid balsa-tipped lance style won't, and it can unhorse an opponent when it connects. Since we get more points breaking the whole tip, we go for hits with the solid part every pass. Not wimpy.
