    The sodium ions and potassium ions allow the application of potential difference or voltage across the muscle cells. When you introduce these ions, it depolarises the cell. Adenosine Triphosphate within the cells which is a molecule that release energy allow the transduction to movement energy and therefore muscle contractions.
