John Wakefield the Managing director of Phoenix distribution, the leading importers of Arai helmets into the UK shows us how to remove and replace a visor correctly
I'm sure arai have made it as difficult as possible so we either break it or need help changing it, therefore getting more money out of us. Everytime I've needed to change my visor I'd psyche myself up put it on the kitchen table then chicken out!!
I had a Condor for 4 years, just replaced with an Axces. Initially I struggled with the Condor but got the hang of it and eventually found it quite quick and easy. However, the new Axces is doing its very best to stop me changing visors. The mechanism on the LHS seeems to jam, expecially with the smoked visor. I'll be taking it back and if they can't fix it I'll be looking for a refund or replacement.
This should be a demonstration event at the next Olympics. Skill, dexterity, patience and a above all else, pure dumb luck. Only took me 20 minutes but I must have watched this video 10 times. The trick is to add a little dab o' that silicon lubricant. And when that fails add some to the helmet and it slips in a little easier. Not much, just a little.
Either this is rigged or I have a defective helmet. I took it to the dealer and he replaced the mounts (at my expense of course) and even then it took him about 15 minutes to put on a new face shield after the plates went on. If anyone from Arai can change my faceshield without parts popping off the helmet, I'll buy a new helmet of my helmet's original value. We can put it on video to show how wrong I am and how truly easy this is :) PS I really do love the Profile, but seriously...
They cannot be done that quick on the ones I own. I usually end up breaking out in a sweat just changing my visor. I have owned arai's for 10 years too. Stupid design.
i wish it was that simple... otherwise mine is broken...
