(Lyrics below description): Hi, well I got back from the states yesterday, and I wrote this song while I was travelling. It was inspired mainly by the ubiquitous corporate advertising that I saw everywhere I looked, and it got me thinking about how people use commercial products, TV, the internet etc. to fill the void inside them in the same way that people have always done with religion, treating the labels and companies that all bombard our minds with promises that they alone hold the solution to make our lives better almost like gods, and there's just no space to think anymore. So I started drawing parallels and pondering on the subject for a while and this is what I came up with. I'm not trying to preach to everybody about how they live their lives, because I'm as bad as anybody when it comes to this, I'm just making observations on the impact this has on society and on our lives individually, and maybe trying to get a few people thinking that perhaps it's better not living through chemistry. Anyway enjoy the song.

Lyrics:
A salute to the Gods of the West, for all that they have done
For the gifts that they have given us, for the wars that they have won
And a toast to the life of our culture, for now its end has come
Like the poet in the gutter, they'll say it died too young

There's no point in questions, when the answer's so hard to believe
No nothing's so important that it should wake you from your sleep
And you yearn for the touch of emotion, but a cigarette's all you need
Oh ain't life just so easy when there's gods on every street

Life is full of problems, and sometimes you come undone
If you're too unlearned to solve them, or too old to take them on
Well there's gods that give you wisdom, and gods that keep you young
Yeah the gateway to redemption is a pill upon your tongue

And the signs tell me this is what we wanted
But the old men all say that it's too late
And these dark thoughts by which my mind is haunted
Are warning me that love will have to wait

And every day they'll feed you enough to satisfy
The burning hole inside you, which is of your own design
And you'll click your happy buttons for the rest of your happy lives
And the more you say you're happy the more it is a lie

And the lines slowly get replaced by fences
And towers build their way into the sky
While we scrabble in the dark to find our senses
And all around us logic seems to die

So salute the gods of the west, for all that they have done
For the gifts that they have given us for the wars that they have won
And we'll drink to the life of our culture, for now its end has come
Like the poet in the gutter, they'll say it died too young
