This single is actually better than Endless Love to me. This song was supposed to go on the "Heroes" album along with "Lady" by Kenny Rogers by the Commodores in 1980 but the group wanted no more Richie ballads. They wanted to get back to funk and dance tunes. Richie and McClary saved it for the movie.
It's an excellent song and was even nominated for an Academy Award in the instrumental category. Why it wasn't s single, I do not know.

Motown issued a promo single of this song, but Polydor nixed its release. There were actually three record labels in disagreement about this: Motown, Polydor, and RCA.

@reggie20032 I heard it on the radio quite often, too. I think it wasn't released as a single for the same reason "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming" by Michael and Jermaine Jackson wasn't released - the two record companies didn't see eye-to-eye ("Endless Love" was approved of beforehand).

Thanks for posting. The tune was in my head for 20+ years after watching EL. Now I can rest. :)

i agree, i LOVE it!

I didn't like the Commodores after Richie left, but I didn't like Lionel Richie's solo career either. They really needed each other.

Thank you so much for this, Drvinneboobotz. I've never heard it before now, and I didn't know it existed until a few weeks ago. This makes me very happy.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I apologize for the lack of video but I'm still trying to get the hang of this. :)
