Heehee, if that's a Saw Whet, then the chickens are in no danger. They outweigh him considerably. I have seen chickens chase, catch, and eat a field mouse, and also small snakes.

I hear that sometimes chickens will catch and eat mice by themselves if they can get them. It'd be funny if the owl and a chicken tried to grab the same mouse simultaneously.

ah yes the chickens will go after the mice if they see them. But the owl hunts them. During the day the chickens are out in the run and at night when napping the owl gets good hunting. I do bring my camera out to the coop now and then in hopes of getting more video. When I do I will post them. Do you have chickens?

no this owl is a little bigger than a can of beer. The mice come around looking for chicken food and the owl waits for them.
