  • 3:46 is that a real photo?

  • @njirem Yes it is. :O)

  • This was very nice work. I have a PhD in Molecular Biology and I am certain there is life on Europa

  • Aggmanuk, I have watched all of your vid's and continue to be awed, not only with your video skills and educational info, but also by the assistance given when people ask questions and make suggestions. There is a warming and inspiring humility within in you.......dont stop :)

  • Life forms surviving in antartica in the ice and below the sea on volcanic vents prove that life is very adaptable, europa's thick ice crust should be sufficient to protect any potential life from radiation. That's the theory from earth based life anyway.

  • @grandpamoe1 No there is to much radiation, there is a chance that we could live under the ice where there is less radiation.

  • @BipBapCam Exactly! If it has water, we should take some of our own organisms and take them there and let them evolve! We have taken an organism into space before to see its reaction and it survived!

We can do it but almost certainly, there will already be some form of life within Europas Ocean. I also don't see why we need chemical energy(heat) for life just b/c we discovered that to be the case in our ocean. Before we thought we absolutely needed sunlight for life. We don't know!

  • @Logopolist I don't have a PhD in Molecular Biology and i am certain there is at least Microbes on Europa

  • There may or may not be life in Europa's Ocean.. but if not, why don't we just 'create' alien life. It may sound a bit crazy, but I do think it would be achievable given careful planning. Take a few of Earth's sea creatures and fish, organisms, and under water plants. Put them in a shuttle and send them down into Europa's Ocean. Then let them roam free, and they will start to adapt and evolve differently to how they would on Earth, eventually creating entire new species unique to Europa

  • @SpecterDARKEN Agree very little chance life can exist on the surface or Europa, however under the frozen surface is an ocean of water warmed. Just as life exists deep on Earth's ocean floor, we will find that life exists there too. The frozen surface shields the moon from harmful radiation, just like our own atmosphere does. See recent issue of the Journal Nature for highlights. Nature 479, pp502 to pp505 24 November 2011. I am writing paper as well on subject.

  • @Logopolist the surface temperature of this planet is -160C degrees and -220C in poles. how could life exist in such temperatures? the reason that there is liquid water is bcz of the gravitational tidal forces of Jupiter.

  • WingsOfRedemption

  • @grandpamoe1

No. Besides the fact that the surface temperature averages about 110 K (−160 °C; −260 °F) at the equator and only 50 K (−220 °C; −370 °F) at the poles, there's radiation from Jupiter to deal with. So, if anything, humans would have to live beneath the ice. Check Wikipedia for more.

  • I find it very curios that NASA is showing no interest in Europa even doe they say they are looking for life & liquid water on other planets. It is like looking for gold & not seeing the mountain of it right beside you. Al this decades & the billions of dollars they spend, they couldn't spare something for a simple probe.

NASA is either dumb or they know something & are not telling or they are dumb.
