(I really need to get the hang of dubbing full versions of songs again...the mixing here is a total mess...OTL ;;;; ANYWAYS.)

You learn a lot about a person in four years of friendship with them.

You find out what they love, what they hate.

About their families, relationships, past and present.

You learn what songs make them sob really hard forever and ever.

And then you go and sing one of those songs for their birthday. -SHOT-

For those of you who know me well enough, you know that Taiyou no Uta is one of my favorite songs EVER. In any language, any genre, ever. I adore it. The lyrics and emotion and everything...words can't properly convey my love for this song. A while back, maybe 2 years ago or so, I thought it would be fun to write half-English lyrics for this [as in, keep roughly half the song in the original Japanese and then write English lyrics for the rest of it.] These lyrics really came from the heart...the translation really made it so easy to write these lyrics with all the feeling I have for this song and the people I love. For that reason, old or not, they remain my favorite set of lyrics that I have ever written. The bridge part in English ["Just how much are we allowed/ to love each other in this/ relentless time, these predetermined days?] is, quite honestly, probably my favorite thing that I have ever written for anything EVER. My deepest feelings and very soul are within this song and these lyrics, really.

Anyways, a while back, when Izumi [sparklingIZUMI, formerly known as faraBANG/Fara] had helped me get through a period of time where I was feeling dejected/worthless, I sang a rather bad one-shot of this, with my lyrics and everything. Despite it's crappiness, she really liked it and it has been dubbed our "friendship" song, since we both get super emotional about it XD
I usually don't CRY over this song, but while recording it [and boy, is it OBVIOUS] I just...couldn't hold myself together. LOL From the very beginning, you can tell that I'm tearing up. I took a break to try and calm down, but it started again by the time the English verse started, so then I had a few tears rolling down my face, and by the bridge and sort of quieter chorus part [that last "waratte naite kimi to deaete"] I was totally losing it and just trying not to make outright sobbing sounds in the recording. LOL [Hence why my breathing/pronunciation and everything in here is TERRIBLE. While it's unfortunate that my inability to pull myself together while recording a BIRTHDAY PRESENT affected my pitch in some places, I decided to keep this because I felt it was more important to let the emotion shine through. Izumi is such a dear, dear friend of mine who has gotten me through so much, and I love her and care about her more than I can really say. So, pitchy or not, I think this version conveys my feelings much better than any old polished-up dub that I might have done for fun/no reason. The mixing for this was unusually hellish, though...I had probably 20-30+ tracks and I did everything I could, but some things were just unfixable. OTL

As for the picture...well, my Photoshop skills have certainly declined, but I was able to get this gorgeous manga image of Lucia from MMPPP [Izumi [then Fara] and I met through MMPPP dubbing :) ] who is originally holding a card that says "Happy Birthday Kaito!" with the date at the bottom of HIS birthday. I saw that picture and I was all "LOL I'MMA PHOTOSHOP KAITO AND STUFF OUT BECAUSE NOBODY CARE ABOUT HIM AND IT'S IZUMI'S BIRTHDAY ANYWAYS LOLOL" -THROWN INTO HELL- (And as you can see, her birthday was the 17th...I'm a bit late OTL ;;;;;;) Anyways, Photoshop thought it would be real cute, after spending like an hour photoshopping out the "Kaito", etc bits, to not let me adjust the text on it the way I wanted. So I eventually just gave up and took a brush to it and wrote "IZUMI 7.17" with my mouse and one of the normal PS brushes 8D; -SMACKED- Also, as this is a gift, and I'm rather proficient in Japanese, I translated all the Japanese parts by myself, no help from websites/taking English translations from other places, 100% me :)

OKAY I SHOULD REALLY FINISH THIS UP, THIS DESCRIPTION IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. LOL

So, basically, this song means a lot to Izumi and me, so I decided to sing it for her birthday even though it's late and the MMPPP picture does NOT belong to me, I just edited it. MMPPP belongs to Michiko Yokote and Pink Hanamori. NOT ME, GAIZ.

Hope you all enjoy!!
