Along similar lines of my last post, this video is an example of spontaneous improvisation. The difference here is that I am improvising without a set structure or song.

The Aebersold backing tracks volume 104 (which I use for this improvisation) is called Free Play which features play-alongs by the great Kenny Werner. This track is called Time, No Changes and features a walking bass line and a drum track but no specific chord changes. This allows total freedom to create your own song, which is what I have done here. After playing a brief, impromptu melody line, the rest is improvised.

I used the VanBasco Midi player to display the keys on screen but it will sometimes miss some of the notes (I'm not sure why) but it should help those who are interested to see more clearly what I am playing. Thanks to 7NoteMode for his post-production advice on increasing the visual appeal.

  • Hey man great playing and swinging!Do u do this on a MIDI piano like the C3?How do you put the other keyboard showing the MIDI notes that you´re playin´?

Keep in touch, hope to hear from you, abstract blues-man...!

  • ...That is REALLY nicely done!...

    Sincerely,
