The Surefire MAG5-60 is a quad stack magazine for the AR15 or rifles that use an AR15 magazine such as the ACR, SCAR, and others. The Surefire MAG5-60 holds 60 rounds of ammo and is made of aluminum.

  • You can buy 6-30 round mags for $130 shipped or one Surefire 60 round mag for $130+shipping. What a rip off.

  • @AKSKSMAN My dealer is selling PMAGs for $13 each. I can buy 6 PMAG's for $80. I know the PMAG will work.

  • Great review, in your opinion do you think that the Surefire MAG5-60 is worth the money over the standard 30 round magazines?

  • @Ostriker44 Given the reliability issues, I don't see the MAG5-60 being a good value. I would much rather have two high quality 30 round mags vs. the MAG5-60.

  • Excellent review as always! I didn't experience the same problems through various full autos but I was using PMC .223 and Federal 5.56. Really enjoyed your perspective and respect your insight. I'll submit a video response if you're interested. Thanks again Sturmgewehre!

  • @Patriot36 I watched your review before picking my mag up and high hopes for the mag. I've talked to an engineer that designs mags recently and he gave me some insight into the SF design. In short, it has a couple of design issues, he tells me. We shall see. SF got back to me so my mag will be going back to them for QA review. The only bad thing is that I must pay shipping. That always irks me when a manufacturer does that. :/

  • @AKSKSMAN Yeah, I bought a Magpul for $15 30 rounder. This is bullshit. If thats the price the guy has lost his damn mind!

  • @Sturmgewehre

i'm just waiting on the magpul 60 they have in the works.

  • So you call your AR an M16A2? Is it a conversion from an A2 because it looks like the M4 with the full auto

  • I'd rather have either 2 mags clamped together and can quickly change from one to the other or a ready mag and just swap instantly

  • Another good, accurate review. I bought two of the 60 round Surefire mags and both were problematic with quality brass cased ammo. Bolt over rides and follower hanging up., etc. Returned both for refund. I will be sticking with good old reliable DH, Magpul, or Lancer. At this point Surefires experiment is a fail at the publics expense. If you do decide to deal with them on warranty, they soak the consumer for shipping in addition to charging too much for a mag that does not function. Hopefully

  • Great vid!

  • right now you can get a 10 pack or Brownells 30 rounders for $100. use a bunch of mag couplers and be almost as fast with much less cost.

  • @yourredcomrade717 I think it was really for the IAR thing the military wants to do.

  • I understand why this thing would be nice for soldiers if it were reliable, but damn, 90 bucks is the cheapest I have seen. I think I'd rather go for two regular mags for 26 bucks.

  • thank you... i was seriously going to buy a 60 rnd mag.... looks like pmags will do just fine
