The riff @2:10 was lifted from Frank Ifield's 1962 hit "I Remember You", I believe.

This song was written in 1967/68, a backing track was recorded in 1968, Pete Townshend wanted it to be on "Tommy" but couldn't figure out where to put it. They considered releasing it as a single, but didn't. They re-recorded it for a 1970 EP, and it wasn't released until 1974 on "Odds and Sods".

Now I am a farmer is one of my favorite songs . I just can't believe they did a song like this. It is hilarious, yet a masterpiece. Odds and Sods is one of my favorite albums of all time.
