Indeed.. Here are some quick attempts at some of Tommy's songs. Since i only know certain parts of each song, i just made a quick mix video. Three songs palyed are Luttrell, Son of a Gun, and Sanatarium Shuffle. Keep in mind this is just a preview practice type video and there are some mistakes. I also got a new camera (Canon ZR200) for free, so this is the first vid to use it. Enjoy

  • very impressive! Do you have any tip how to start learning play bass and melody? how should I practise to get the thumb going by it self?

  • it is rather difficult to learn playing bass and treble melodies independently, but all i can say is to learn some sort of alternating bass melody (a great example is the song 'windy and warm', which has a distinctive high and low melody), and start by learning the low notes, then later integrate the high notes. go note by note slowly until your fingers move along with the music. it's all practice, but in the end you can get very creative with it. best of luck to you.

  • Youre playing seems better every time i watch this vid. Think you need a better guitar tho.

  • just wait..... i got a new mic. it makes my guitar sound as good as it should.

  • You are friggin good! Learn the songs in whole though, that could be very cool! Cheers!

    Regards Esben

  • Haha thanks. I've realized lately how i don't really finish any of the songs i learn completely. I have the attention span of a mop. it's rediculous. I'm actually pushin to finish these 3 songs so expect videos of them later.

  • love how you stop right before a run

  • Wow, man you've an excellent groove there...brilliant...those are some great songs you're doing too...

I've just finished luttrell, and I can tell you, the emmanuel labour dvd helps so much...get a copy and see what tommy has to say about the song...his instruction is a little brief, but it's sufficient to learn the whole thing from. It is good cuz you can see his positions and such, making your playing much more efficient. however, fantastic work thus far... keep pickin!

  • Only one advice:

It is much better to play something slow but without mistakes. Tommy always says that only when the technique is mastered, some feelings can appear.

  • Very good!

  • ok, thanks. I'll try to find one in swedish, or if you have one in english to recommend?

I think you were awesome btw!

  • I'm no master, but I would suggest picking up a book on beginner classical guitar technique, learning "rest stroke" and "free stroke"... it helped me the most when I started playing acoustic

  • Thank you, I'll try that.
