Benefit for Making the Most of I at Hayward Gardends in Westminster West Vermont
When Donald Saaf and the Little Hope String Band reach into their bag of songs, they might come up with anything from the last hundred years. From turn of the century parlour songs to Toots and the Maytals dance numbers. From waltzes to polkas to songs of Billie Holiday. They take songs from every where and filter them through a rootsy, rag-tag, joyous, jugband sort of sound. They play music that truly appeals to all ages. Donald has recorded extensively with children's performer Dan Zanes on Festival Five Records, as well as creating the artwork for those C.D.s. He plays guitar, harmonica, mandolin, tenor banjo, and does most of the singing. The other members include bassist extrordinaire Matt Sharff on the standup bass, and puppeteer Finn Campman on the cardboard box and oilcan. Another part time member is the amazing Phil Bloch on violin. They are presently working on recording a new C.D. of wedding party music.
