DANCEINTENSE, curated and created by Piali Ray (OBE) from sampad:

* an international 2 week residential school;

* provides training opportunities for South Asian dancers and dancers trained in South Asian dance forms to develop skills in professional standards of South Asian Dance, contemporary choreographic methods;

* and the opportunity to work on new ideas with some of the leading choreographers in dance.

* To date 40 dancers have benefitted directly;

* in 2006 DanceIntense was based at Elmhurst School for Dance, in Birmingham, UK (www.elmhurstdance.co.uk);

* in 2007 DanceIntense II took place at the Vedic Village in Kolkata, India;

* in 2009 DI is being planned in Canada;

* choreographers to date have included the likes of Mark Baldwin (Rambert), Mamata Shankar, Shobanna Jeyasingha, Navtej Singh Johar.
