This is a short excerpt from the 1977 détournement political documentary "Peking Duck Soup" (also called "Chinois, encore un effort pour être révolutionnaires") by french Situationist director René Viénet. This clip re-purposes a 1970s TV ad for the mint flavored French soda Ricqlès to illustrate the burtal bureaucratic maneuvering inside the Chinese Communist Party. The "situationist cinématheque" film serves as a definitive anti-maoist history of China and appropriates a great variety of media sources (particularly archive footage and newsreels) to compose a political commentary sharply critical of the CCP and Mao Tse-Tung.
