Who's swaying who? In what reference does the show (or its interviewees) intend to "sway" the people via their emotions to vote on an issue?

Nostalgia for Ted should not be used to sway people emotionally who might not use any other reason for voting for it on an issue that needs to be approached with honesty and transparent reason, with emotion running, perhaps a close third.
