  • Wonder how that would work to pull exaust fumes from my shop when I am working on my small engines?

  • @larrybl It turned out to be a flop. I gave the blower to another ham op who uses it to cool a Eimac amplifier tube. It works great for cooling RF transmit tubes however, it just cannot move enough air. I think it would have worked well if I had a bigger motor/squirrel cage setup.

  • id use a bit bigger one its not gonna move as much air as u will need. it will work but your gonna have to put it close, but make sure it don't suck your shielding gas away.

  • Yeah, it was kind of a let down. I hope to find a bigger blower motor sometime soon.

    Thanks for the positive comment,

    John

  • Hey John, did you get finished with this? If so, I'd like to see the finished project.

  • Yes, I finished it with lackluster results. I built a small square base to mount it on. It doesn't move as much air as I hoped it would. I kinda got discouraged and set it to the side. I guess I need to find a bigger blower motor.

    Take Care,

    Jon

Jon, do you know what that thing was rated for in CFM? I'm thinking about building something similar, I thought I'd try to get some info from you

  • Hang on to that blower set up. Make yourself a blacksmith forge. Probably work good for that.

Thanks for posting....seemed like a good idea.

  • What you want is to buy a dozen surplus pancake fans, stack them into an assembly as if you were making a insert for a window.

You can most several thousand CFM this way for only a couple of bucks per fan.

  • I put it to the side after I built a base for it. I need to finish it. As you can tell, I am the worlds worst about finishing it up "later".
