@ballaesmeralda Monarchy itself is an old system. It is irrational under the democracy. Therefore, it is nonsense to pursue the equality of the sexes in the monarchy. If people want the equality without exceptions, they have to deny the monarchy.

@nastykurtbadboy I was not just referring to the duty to produce an heir but ANY duty. Masako is constantly finding excuses to cancel public appearances. Kiko is not like that.
We can benchmark Masako's performance against Kiko's performance and see that Masako is failing as princess. Kiko accepts tax but works for it. That's good.
To answer your question, Masako can have a son either by having children until she has a son or through the sexual selection of her offspring at a fertility clinic.

@CloeBuckingham how can she fix what gender of the child she wants? Don't you think it is unfair to blame her for not producing a son? and what all that her being guilty of accepting taxpayers money? I just can't believe in modern Japan, a shallow minded like you still exist.

Princess Aiko, the first daughter of Crown Prince, isn't in tle line of throne. Woman can't be the Empress by her own right in Japan.
So, I am very glad that Prince Hisahito was born.
The existance of him promisses that the oldest monarchy in the world will be continued.
