The title of this article should be "DUH"! Conservatism, by definition, is suspicious of change and new ideas. The only way to increase intelligence, however you may define it, is by being open to new ideas. In other words, the very mindset which is conducive to increasing knowledge and awareness is the mindset that is the very antithesis of conservatism. Is it any wonder why most Ivy League schools, and the heart of most American creativity are in "Blue" states?
