I was at NAMM (Jan 17th, 2010), and me and my best friend got a private performance by Thomas at the Lowden Guitar booth.
Desert Pirates
Grooveyard
No woman, No cry
Perc U Lator
Riddle
He played both standard and baritone guitars.
I stumbled upon Thomas about 5 years ago at NAMM. I've seen him perform several times, and every time I get the feeling like I"m in the presence of an artist, that is in the process of creating his Masterpiece.
They're by a small Canadian company, Wyres strings.. Very much doubt you'll find em in your local shop.
But at the same time, the strings don't make the instrument. I'd most likely put it down to the action if your finding it hard on the fingers. And if you're new to fingerstyle playing, jumping in at the deep end can be a little harsh on the digits.
what kind of strings did he give you, because I'm trying to learn quicksilver and I have a feeling my strings are what's making it particlurly hard to play it
If the camera panned about 20 degrees to the right, you'd see me there with a massive grin on my face and loving it. I saw him at the Roebuck a day or two before this.. had a chat with him after, played his Lowden and even gave me some strings to try out.
Great guy, amazing music and a hell of an inspiration.
