It's easy to get frustrated when learning any new skill and learning to play a harp is not an exception! Just take it easy. Do not try to go too fast too soon. The beginning steps are the hardest. Put your harp in your pocket or purse and walk with it. Play it for a few minutes as you go through the day. Work on single notes. Learn a song and every time you play it, try to play it better than you did the last time. This is the road to perfection - - it'll happen! Don't be too hard on yourself! 2. Learning to play single notes can be quite challenging. See my earlier video-lessons for step by step instructions on getting single notes. A good idea is to learn to play a few songs while working on your single note production. Here are three links where you'll find lots of songs with tabs. Select a couple songs you like -- and learn to play them while you work on perfecting your single notes.

4. When you're ready -- go to Google Search and look for HOW TO PLAY BLUES HARMONICA -- you'll find hundreds of leads....
5. You'll need to get a chromatic harp if you want to play jazz, classics and songs with lots of semi-tones and key changes. I could not squeeze that info in here so I've put it on an accompanying video -- click here for Part 2 of this video, for Nature Boy, Danny Boy and lots of useful stuff ~

Remember: what people think of you is none of your business... ...
@Bajan I was actually referring to those that might think one is better than the other. I think you might have said in one of your videos that with music, it is about the journey, not the destination.

@zardozica Thanks for that. Yes, you are right - and I suppose that insight may apply to all areas of endeavor. If I do another vid I'll surely include that insight. Thanks again!

You need to learn lip and tongue blocking in order to get all the benefits out of this great instrument.

@zardozica Definitely! As soon as my skill level improves. Thanks for the tip!

I never understand why people want to get single notes with this difficult "purse" method. It's a lot easier to get single notes by just tilting the harmonica upward and have a lot more upper lip over the harmonica than lower lip.
You will find by doing this, you get single notes and don't have to purse the lips.

@Kenneth1944 cool. There is nothing cast in concrete - and especially where music is concerned! - It's what works for you!
