The cat easily adapted to it and in general I'm happy with it. I must say though that it is not as silent as advertised, the motor makes an annoying "oooom" quite loud. My cat also didn't start drinking much more than it used, I believe that if the water fell from above instead of coming from below it would pick much more of his attention.
