Anti-Harper demonstration in Toronto, Canada, Mar. 15/07

Activists from Stop Climate Chaos Toronto, the Canadian Peace Alliance and the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War picket just outside the Conservative Party of Canada's national election school, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Toronto Congress Centre near Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

These activists and voters are opposed to Stephen Harper's deadly combat mission in Afghanistan that is undermining development and driving up support for a Taliban resurgence; these activists support Canada focusing on efforts to put money and priority on meeting Kyoto targets and investing in genuine solutions to address Climate Change. Activists and parents also want money put into a national system of Child Care, not more war and insecurity.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to speak at the Tory training school on Saturday, March 17, 2007, as actions opposing his deadly and costly war efforts with George W. Bush take place across Canada and the United States, and around the world.

Canada has over 2500 troops serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, is spending billions upon billions on war and combat while abandoning real efforts to meet Kyoto targets and seriously address climate change and promote green energy and efficiency.

I hope these people are as Anti-Liberal Party as they are anti-Conservative. It was the liberal party that brought us into Afghanistan and sign Kyoto yet failed to act.

I can say they are -- they demonstrated against Michael Ignatieff (deputy leader of the Liberals) and none of them have any illusions in the Liberals -- who took us to Afghanistan, failed on climate change and emissions, and brought in the most regressive cuts to health care and education in 1995.

Under the Taliban women were denied education, driver's licences, the vote and were killed for minor reasons that would go unnoticed in Canada. 1- Why do you think Afghan women are less deserving than Canadian women? 2 - What do you propose as an alternative? Question to you then - HOW WERE AFGHAN WOMEN TREATED UNDER THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE? Afghan women's organizations, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch all condemn the treatment by warlords in the Alliance, but it's they who Canada and NATO are propping up... please do use Google and do some research on this so you see the whole truth.

Are you trying to say that Canada is not threatened by terrorism, and that it's all made up by some evil Bush/Harper alliance? Who really cares if Harper is trying to maintain good relations with Bush? He may not be the greatest US President, but he is still our closest ally. The war is an endless lie. Our leadership isn't trying to win in Afghanistan, they just want to have a presence there to counter Iran and our pseudo-friend Pakistan. They'll tell you otherwise, but it's all a lie to keep the voters on board with their attempt at global domination.

The terrorism that Canadians should really be concerned with is the climate terrorism by Harper and Klein: the Alberta tar sands is adding to global warming, which is already killing people around the world and destroying forests here in Canada (i.e. pine beetle infestation). The war in Afghanistan is a PR stunt by Harper and a way to enrich war profiteers. It is helping to create terrorist, not bring them to justice.
