hese are long term storage food items being cooked without any fire or electricity in a solar oven. This could be very handy if we had power and food disruptions in America due to what I feel is the inevitable, and economic collapse.

  • did you have to add water as the beans cooked?

  • No not much water. When cooking in a solar oven, the water you need is much less than if cooked on a stove top / oven because all the moisture gets sealed in.

  • These beans would still be good even if there were no economic collapse :)

  • where'd you get your solar oven from? are you still enjoying it?

    thanks!

  • LOTS OF FARTING IN THE TENT TONIGHT. LOL

  • Good=cook. Darn auto correct

  • You can good in any metal pan if you lay a dark or black cotton towel over the pot. This way you can use multiple shiny pots and pans.

  • youtube and google:

    "LDS Cannery" "LDS Cannery Locations"

you can buy 25lb bags of beans (black, pinto, and/or white beans) for $14-$16. I have sprouted these to make sure they were not irradiated. They are not and you can eat for pennies on the dollar and/or stock up if any disaster hits?? You do not have to be a member of the LDS-it is just like going to the store-very convenient-

    Good luck~

**they have other dry bulk foods for sale to: wheat berries, sugar, dry milk, macaroni, flour etc..

  • @centervilletn Just goes to show we are living in an illusion. Men & women can take care of themselves,

  • Great idea....I have wanted to build a solar oven for a long time now...and this video has me motivated to start.

I think I do to, but white navy beans are good too and you can use them to extend tuna fish. I sometimes make tuna fish sandwiches for lunch, but I use 50% tuna and 50% smashed white beans along with the mayo, onions, pickles and such. The tuna overpowers the taste of the beans. I've heard even kids who profess to hate beans will eat these sandwiches without even knowing there are beans in them.
