Balinese dances are so wonderful when you watch them. if they are executed by a talented dancer, they are catching the attention of the on-looker with the precision and perfection of the movement, the theatric presence of the dancer. It is fascinating.
But without the personal presence, these dances are usually totally un-watchable on recordings. They become flat and boring on the little screen, especially for people who never saw them in live.
You took these two dances. The beautiful Dewi gave a short, to the point personal point of view on them, different from what one usually reads on presentation flyers. And you made a lot of scenic and composition work to keep the attention awake. You changed sceneries, changed the order of the elements of the dance, even dissociated them from the music.
That would be sacrilege, if one was very conservative... but actually it is a real victory.
The attention of the person watching stays on the object, the dance, and gets trapped. Your video can be fully enjoyed by a person who does not know anything about balinese dance, and he/she will be really captivated and eager to know more.
I think your video is a piece really presents balinese dance at the level of its value. Having spent two years in Bali, and being really fond of oleg (I learned it myself) I really appreciate your work.
Dedicated and beautiful dancer, wow...amazing!
