"Breaking the habit" Linkin Park Cover

Well, this is me at the performance for the final competition for the tryouts for the Air Force "Tops in Blue" music group. It's called the World Wide Talent Competition, or WWTC. This was in November 2006.

The background is that you have to go to this competition and audition to make this music group that tours the world and plays for the troops. The final test of the competition is to perform the song that they select for you to the best of your ability. They give you a list of songs to pick from, and then you usually get the song that you want. Notice that I said usually.

When they first called to ask what song I wanted to do, I originally wanted to do "YYZ" by Rush, or "Ytse jam" by Dream Theater.
So what did they give me? Linkin Park's "Breaking the habit."
That wasn't even in the list of options that I gave them!
I was so bummed when I first found out...but then, once I saw that I was allowed to make the whole song a solo, it was a little better. But just a little.
They picked the outfit for me...and of course, you have to "give it up" (meaning: act really cheesy because you are 'performing').
So somehow this performance got me first place in the instrumentalist category, and I made the 2007 Tops in Blue team.
When I first saw this video I was pretty pleased with how I performed. Now looking back on it, I can really see where I have been able to grow as a musician. Plus, I had a few little mistakes that just annoy me.

@ventor11225 It's not a problem. I wasn't being sarcastic or getting mad at you...I don't blame you for not liking this song, and I STILL don't like it. I just had to make do with what I was given. if you'd like to hear my actual style of guitar playing, then check out that video that I told you about in my profile.

If not, keep playing and getting better. And always remember that there's something to learn from everyone...even if it's just where you don't want to go.

So if you want, give this a listen. It will give you a better idea of what I like to write.

Man, I'm so sorry they gave you a Linkin Park song... Linkin Park doesn't make any use of guitars other than basic power chords. If I were you I wouldn't have even done it!
