I love Jack Nicholson, but I'm a little bitter about two of his most famous performances--not that they were bad, but both Stephen King and Ken Kesey expressed great displeasure at the adaptations of The Shining and Cuckoo's nest. Both were great movies but lousy adaptations of great books. It just irks me that more people credit Jack Nicholson with Cuckoo's Nest and the Shining than the people who actually created them. But such is life, I guess.
