Just a fun Rush song to play.

Bass - 78' Fender Precision
Strings - DR Sunbeams
Effects - Light Distortion
Audio Recording - Creative SB X-Fi
Video Recording - Cheesy Webcam

Geddy's sound is hard to emulate with my equipment, but a little distortion helps in this song. Geddy's distortion is smooth and subtle, and I would guess he used a Rick for this song, but I don't know for sure.

Still room for improvement, but I kept my first take and went with it. Thanks for watching.

  • woah nice tone and do you have a bad ass 2 bridge on that p-bass?

  • yes, its a badass II, I'm glad I added it. got it on ebay new for a great price. thanks

  • hey I've been looking for a new brand of rounds to put on my jazz and p bass. I'm looking for a warmer sounding roundwound string, still retaining round characteristics but without the nasty high end. Is this DR sunbeams or should I keep looking?

thanks and nice vid btw : D

  • I like the DR Sunbeams. They are nickel roundwounds, which make them smoother to the touch and easier on fretboards, with a good life-span. They have great warm tone and a deep low end. The high string is 45 gauge, which shouldn't be too high-end sounding, I prefer them over same gauge steel roundwounds like Rotosounds.

  • because of you, i am dying for a precision bass maple neck with a badass bridge.

  • you can't go wrong with a vintage P Bass, and the bridge really made a difference. I'd like to upgrade the pickups next.

  • My next bass is a Mocha '78 like yours. Currently using a '78 SB. Nice tone and presentation.
