Maria was going for way too much on the 2nd serves considering the conditions. But this tournament was very good for her, who would've thought after a terrible past few years, she would make the SF of RG again?

Li was brilliant, I'm so glad she won this slam!

Li Na who, from the superpower China, is unquestionably the best the world has ever seen at this moment is simply too strong and consistent for the former Grand Slam champion Sharapova. In my 30 years of playing and watching tennis, I can confidently say that from now on, Li Na will beat Sharapova in every single match they ever meet until either one retires from competition. That which has been is that which will be. #LOL

maria kept hitting the ball in the middle of the court in the 1st set...some gutsy play from her at 4-5 down in the 2nd, but that's it. on the other hand, li strikes the ball brilliantly despite the conditions. smooth movement, too

@kimskis as for u knocking li na's "fluke" slam, maria has been touring on the WTA since 2004. Its now 2012, 8 years later and she has 3 slams. She doesnt win slams at a rapid rate either. She seems to win a slam every 2 years, in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

@kimskis ahaha you so crazy. so the wind messed with maria's game? how come li na was still able to move well and hit aggressively from either half of the court? face it. maria got blown out. clay has to be her worst surface with her normally hampered movement. also if u watch other matches in 2011, maria's double faults whether the wind blows or the sun shines. shes really been struggling with that.

i know ppl have favorites but why cant they view the fav's losses objectively?

wind was really screwing up with Maria's game that day - not only she constantly DF-ing, but most of her shots were hit centrally and with not enough pace. Too bad, but Li capitalized on her luck and won her fluke slam later on
