To be depressed and suffering became fashionable around the early nineteen hundreds. It started with the publication of a book called Les Miserables, (I think it was that one...) and it became very successful. Around that time, there was a string of suicides due to depression, which was mostly unheard of before that time. Then came all these radical innovations of thought, romanticism and the like, and those who were suffering were seen as more significant than those with a stable mind.

There's a difference between EMO, which stems from PUNK, and DOOM, which has everything and all to do with METAL. Jeez...where have you posers hidden your musical culture? This band is just as emo as My Dying Bride...meaning NOT AT ALL.

Emo sounds like a word to describe emotion. Shouldn't all music, such as this, have emotion? Yet we don't call this emo. So, who cares. Like what you like. It doesn't matter. Genres are just words used to give people an idea of what it will sound like. Also, anyone who shys away from music with emotion for fear of being labeled as emo shows lack of confidence.

i know with "emo" u mean this depressed teenie-fashion trend today, but just think about it.
