@Devourer221 Not looking to get into an arguement. Just saw your comment about the correct positioning of a H.D. Hand Winch, AKA Come-Along. It has been my experience working as a pipe-fitter that not only do you make sure the winch is rated for the load + stresses, but that you always winch from the anchor point. My question is, as a newb to offroading, why do you like winching from the load and not the anchor point? (I ask because I just tossed an 8000lb hand winch in the back of my YJ)Thanks

The recovery vehicle is the one with the best winch, thats all, unless someone had tyres that beat the winch ... you didnt have mud tyres, so the winch was it.
The driver should not have moved while the person was standing in front, what wreckless behaviour.
The vehicle may have got unstuck if if they just sat on the bonnet, but that's too dangerous without a proper bullbar or similar to provide hand holds.

@webnician actually wrong way around man unless you are using a heavy duty hand winch the idea is that you pull the winch towards the anchor not the load towards the anchor don't try to make people out as stupid when you have no fucking idea...

What a bunch of careless idiots. 1) Don't entrust your life to a muddy boot on some pedals. 2) When the tires spin, let OFF the gas. 3) Winch from the anchor point, not the load. 4) Don't straddle a cable or rope under load 5) Don't operate heavy equipment if you're drunk or retarded.
