Testing the venturi turbine in winds between 25 & 30 MPH. The turbine runs great but I have some changes to make to my coil windings.

  • The Hugh Piggot HAWT put out 500 to 600 watts when it started to furl.

The venturi turbine added anouther 250 to 300 watts. It was a little dissapointing but it did add some output out of a relativily short 35 foot tower.

it was a fun project put I scrapped it. The parts will get used for other projects.

  • The alternator is direct drive from an 8 inch stainless steel 3/4 inch shaft coupled by a flex coupling to the rotor. This allows the airfoils to expand and contract with temperature without effecting the air gap of the magnet rotors. The top bearing is also a unique design that allows the turbine frame to flex without loading up the bearings and shafts.
