This is brief explaination of cult behavior & especially within the Quasi-Commercialist world of Martial Arts cults. This video focuses with the mechanics of implimenting thought control over the subject & causing the cult members to re-enforce that though control process into a self-fulling prophecy of fantasy...

  • The difference, as I see it, is that while every art has its share of nuthuggers, some really can support their assertions. MMA really is the most realistic legal competition format there is. The Gracies really did prove that BJJ works and rank is awarded solely on the basis of being able to beat someone of equivalent rank. It's not like going to some karate club where the guy says "oh well one day when I was out I totally got mugged by four guys and killed them all with side kicks..."

  • @TimmyJ1985

Yes but with MMA you get a lot of guys saying they "choked out 4 muggers with an RNC..." lol

Every MA has its cults even MMA, now I agree the rules format of MMA is better then say Karate or Judo or Boxing where you have a more restrictive rules format. Personally, I like the old rules from the earilier UFC and some of the more underground events prior to it. The problem is winning a competition and winning a streetfight are 2 different animals...

  • the breakdown is just a test of discipline... nothing wrong with that.... I say if you havent gone through shut the fuck up about it... a cult is a choice... if you do it thats you... but if not it doesnt concern you... called will...

  • @shrime

In one way you're right it is about discipline but it can be more then just a test of will power... I've been through several breakdown processes; marine corps, army, martial arts & some otherstuff as well. Breaking you down to build mental toughness by watching you resist & forcing you to overcome is discipline 110% but breaking you down beyond that is a step to the point you surrender & then further is a different situation entirely...

I define a streetfight as the intent to serious injure or kill another person. Its more akin to urban combat & gang warfare. Someone trying to dominate a social circle via violence will attract others seeking similar social domination. Its not much different then MMA, guys fighting for rank & a title. So yes there is a different psychological impact then 2 guys duking it out & someone trying to kill you.

  • @DravenAzropht In regard to your comment on winning a street fight and winning a competition. I wonder why many people use the word street fight and I do not mean to be pedantic here, I merely mean to understand a train of thought. If we look at what you mean by a street fight and analyse the situation I have a hunch that we will come to the conclusion that it is more of an attack than a mutual wanting of a fight that you refer to as a street fight. It has a different psychological impact.

  • I like that, your know what your talking about! Thanks for sharing! :-)
