She is the original "Grunge Girl" and could sing beautifully. Anyone that says she sucks, I would have to assume, has major wax in their ears and probably considers "Courtney" to be the better singer/original grunge girl even though her voice is ass and she only got popular because she was wed to Kurt. Plus Courtney's music only sounded half decent at the start because they were mostly songs written by Kurt that he didn't feel comfortable putting on a Nirvana album.

@Standard420247 It's well-documented that Courtney & her band Hole were already a recognized act in the underground scene BEFORE anybody knew who Nirvana was. BEFORE she even met Kurt Cobain. Her popularity grew after she married Cobain, yes, so what does that prove? The guitarist in Hole (Eric Erlanderson) co-wrote many of Hole's songs, not Kurt Cobain. Get your facts in order.

In regards to Phair's music, it's clearly inspired by rock n roll & pop, NOT grunge or punk rock.

@madeyes4u HELLYEAH! Some folks just don't understand the difference between good singers and brilliant song writers.Take Cristina Agulara, great voice but others write her songs. Elton John, doesn't have great pipes but he write great tunes.

Liz is a great singer songwriter.. when she sings about something you can hear the sincerity in her voice and her words. Not many bands sound the best live. Studio magic doesnt have anything to do with it. She has a unique voice that is nice to listen to. Its hard for a woman to have a successful career as a rocker in the music industry but shes been able to pull it off. Love ya Liz..)

Been listening to her for years and it never occurred to me that she couldn't sing. Just goes to show, if something sounds good then it is good.
