Seen maria play live in dublin in 1988(?) during her soundcheck at mother redcaps, i was the only person in the venue apart from roadcrew and her manager, seen her again at hmv records on grafton street, she signed my copy of forever changes (her half brothers band, bryan mclean, love).

she isn't an icon because popular music and the youth market drives the success machine. Or country music in that milieu. The rest of the people are fringe dwellers. Struggle throughout their careers with little real recognition beyond their peers. She should have reworked Lone Justice, they had a great sound and could have built a solid following = success commercially, or as you put it, "become huge". There are a lot of torch singers out there, but most people want music that is uplifting.

Hi, I wish I had the video on better quality but this is all I have. I will try to do some searching on the web for you too, maybe I'll have more luck :). I'm not a musician so I'm not good with figuring out chords and stuff...
