  • Love your plastic sets - amazing designs and value. Some great wood sets too.

One thing though; John Jaques of London has never, to my knowledge, used the French pronunciation; it's always been said 'Jon Jakes'.

  • I have their Zagreb '59 set in boxwood and ebonized boxwood. I paid a little under $160 with shipping. Very well made, and goes well with my Drueke board.

Their mammoth set has sold in the past for THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, PIECES ONLY.

  • @warblerab

Wolly mammoth ivory. It's not illegal since they have been extinct for 40,000 years. We can't really harm them much anymore.

  • wait a minute, they still making chess sets using REAL IVORY? I thought it was illegal to hunt and kill elephants for their Ivory?

  • Check mate, your move. :P

Jokes aside HOS make amazing chess sets.

  • Enjoyable. Nice to see a video from the HOS...
