at 2:30 , the headlights are on, but not the taillights :/ wonder why?

That's not the headlights. That's the DRLs, because if the low beam is switch on, you can see yellow led at the side of the headlights, example at 2:44 :)

They had the headlights on the whole time for aethetic reasons.

The tail lights only turned on towards the end because he started braking.
