@gzackerman actually it wasn't a string Clapton broke. if you watch closely the strap comes off the top of the guitar and throws him off.

@gzackerman Robbie sure can play.. and Clapton is God.. remember? further on up the road, form the last waltz, ... they traded leads.. Robbie was awesome, Clapton was magic...lots of fun... Actually used it one of my videos second song... see video responses

I used play folk music in coffee houses and I did a lot of song from the Band. Robbie wrote lots of good stuff and I played a lot of it.
Two things... First, Eric Clapton himself has often talked about how amazing Robbie is on guitar... One only needs to watch The Last Waltz when Eric came onstage for Further On Up the Road when he broke a string on the opening lick. Robbie took over without a hitch, and it was amazing.
Second, the Beatles were ALWAYS in the studio during orchestral arrangements. Mark Lewisohn is the definitive authority on their sessions. Read his books and you will see the light.

About the "Robbie Hate" I think a lot of it comes from interviews Leon Helm has had in the years following the Band. Levon claims that Robbie took song writing credit for songs that were collaborative efforts; so Robbie receives all the Band royalties and none for the other members. Also, he and Robbie blame each other for the suicide of Richard Manuel. For additional details, there is a lot of info out there on the net and in several publications. As for me, I just enjoy the music.
