Based on the events on of Butch O'Hare and his wing man Duff Dufilho on February 20, 1942
The carrier Lexington had been assigned the dangerous task of penetrating enemy-held waters north of New Ireland. From there her planes were to make a strike at Japanese shipping in the harbor at Rabaul. Unfortunately, while still 400 miles from Rabaul, the Lexington was discovered by a giant four-engine Kawanishi flying boat. Lieutenant Commander John Thach, skipper of the Lexington's Wildcat fighters, shot down the Japanese "Snooper," but not before it had radioed the carrier's position. That afternoon Commander Thach led six Wildcats into the air to intercept nine twin-engine enemy bombers. In a determined attack each of the Wildcats destroyed a bomber and damaged two more. The ship's anti-aircraft guns finished off the rest. In the meantime, nine more Japanese bombers were reported on the way. Six Wildcats, one of them piloted by Butch O'Hare, roared off the Lexington's deck to stop them. O'Hare and his wingman spotted the V formation of bombers first and dived to try to head them off. The other F4F pilots were too far away to reach most of the enemy planes before they released their bombs. As if this weren't bad enough, O'Hare's wingman discovered his guns were jammed. He was forced to turn away. Butch O'Hare stood alone between the Lexington and the bombers.

  • nice vid but O'hrae disapired when it was noght

he was doing his first night mission

  • @1makermovie Yes Butch was lost on a night mission but this video isn't about that. It is about the action that earned him the Medal of Honor

  • @LTDcunuk hey this is a cool vid....i want to ask your advice...i have fs 2002 and got the fighter ace 2 demo with it...i really like it even though its just a trial and a bit old...i really like that style of playing...im not very good but want to get better....what is a modern game (good graphics, gameplay) like fighter ace that uses pretty much the same planes (world war 2) and is in your opinion a really good game? (or if you have other ideas, please mention!) thanks!

  • @jonnypopster Fighter Ace has been shut down. It was a great game but no more. The LTD squadron has moved to Aces High II and fly for the bishop team. It is a harder game to learn how to fight well in but you can also man tanks, ship and ground guns. search hitechcreations. free to download but pay to play 15 bux per month versus online players

    glad you liked the video

  • @LTDcunuk MAN I MISS FA SYP_KARMA

  • @plucas4u Great story! My Dad was stationed in England in the USAAF in WWII and know so little of what he did. It burns my ass that I did not pump him for all the stuff he did and saw. He did say he got a bottle of wine from General Patton for air dropping supplies to him. Get your Dad talking and turn on the recorder. God bless him. Remember, he'll take it all with him.

  • @LTDcunuk i wish we could edit the fighter ace files to make them run on hosted servers.

free to play, would be epic.

  • I miss this game.

  • @1makermovie Well, yes, he did see the bomber. But the nose gunner of another bomber saw him and shot at him. He flew into the clouds, and was never seen again.

  • @FighterGuDude3214 actually he saw a bomber and went to it to take it down

and than he was never seen

but still almost the same story

    R.I.P fighter ace

  • @1makermovie Yes, off the USS Enterprise. A Betty's nose gunner fired into his F6F, and he disappeared forever.

  • All these bombers spinning around... their bombs would get loose amd exploded inside.

Oh, and thumbs up if this made you want to watch Battle 360.

  • @LTDcunuk i am using a keyboard and i cant get my tank to move! help!
