  • US troops who brought this song to Mexico never saw a Mexican flag before the war. They sang Lilacs.

  • "Green grow the LAURELS..." is what I was taught in singing classes over here in Finland some 30 years ago.

    I remember having been told the story behind "gringo" and that is why I searched for this song - to send a link to it to an Argentine chat friend to whom I in return have told the story.
