@mojotrio Transcribing is not the only way to learn how to improvise. Granted, it is a great way to learn vocabulary and stuff, it is not the only way. But listening and having a good understanding of theory and knowledge on your instrument are both effective ways to improvise. Transcription is mainly used when one cannot play back what they hear.

it's MUCH easier to just transcribe what he's playing and slow it down rather than try to see what note's he's hitting! Transcribing is the only way one can learn to improvise, rather than just spew out licks that are previously practiced. Good luck.
