There were no "battleships" at this time in Star Trek. They were all designed for exploration and each ship was equipped with defensive weaponry. If anyone remembers the in-show dialouge the Defiant was the first ship created by the federation specifically designed for combat. This is "Star Trek: and not "Battle Trek", but if you had to classify any ship, the Galaxy is a Battleship and the Excelsior a Medium Cruiser. The Ambassador was phased out of service by the start of the Dominion War.

It's kind of a long and drawn out explanation. Watch the ds9 episode "The Dogs of War", it explains everything. I think its still posted here on Youtube somewhere.

For a warrior species with a densely-muscled anatomy and a predilection for swordfighting, the Klingons sure do go down easily in hand-to-hand combat.

I must agree, although we can't expect the main stars to down easily, still... a Klingon, is a Klingon which is kinda contradictory to what their described as.

Agreed. They weakened the Klingons and the Jem'Hadar whenever they fought. I know the good guys have to win but they should take heavier losses.

It's not bullshit, and the only person offending me here is you. Technological advances do happen. Did you ever watch TNG, Yesterday's Enterprise where they fired 3 torpedoes at once? The only reason they can't fire more than one from each launcher at a time is because you say so, and fortunately for myself and everyone else, YOU didn't write it. So shut it.
