This clip is from the 1953 film Hamido starring Taheya Carioca, Mahmoud El Melegy and Farid Shawki in the title role of HAMIDO a murderous heroin trafficker. Taheya plays the part of a woman who works as a dancer at her aunt's sleazy bar in Alexandria where both she and her aunt also distribute heroin and hashish. In this film, all the actors portray criminals and drug dealers, with the exception of Hoda Sultan who plays the role of Hamido's jilted though noble girlfriend.
The singer in this clip is Sayed Darwish Tantawi. He appeared in many old Egyptian films. However, he must not be confused with Sayed Darwish the famous (and much more well known) Egyptian singer and composer who died in 1923. It's NOT the same Sayed Darwish. This is a different and lesser known singer with the same name.

  • The Queen!

  • @AyperiDances It's called an ARGHOUL. It is a wind instrument commonly used in Egypt and its made from reeds that grow near the Nile. It's actually a double flute made of two reeds tied together side by side, a long segmented one and a short one. There are also shorter Arghouls as well. They are used mostly in villages. Arghouls are also used in Palestine where they are called "Yarghoul" or Megwez though in Palestine they are short.
