  • Outstanding performance from the singers, especially Tenor and soprano

  • By far the best version on youtube, no doubt. The tempo is just perfect!

  • @kalloused Actually, I've heard many recordings of the Requiem - some, certainly, very different from this one. But I do not believe that there is a single "right" way to interpret any piece of music, or that a particular performance is objectively "bad" merely because it doesn't suit some critic's personal tastes.

  • So great to see a young guy singing the solo bass part.... I don't know why but I always assume it's sung by an older gent.

The tenor sounds very average, but still great, but all the other parts absolutely amazed me. Lovely recording..... I would love to get a CD or DVD of this concert.

  • I personally prefer Karl Bohm's one. But this one is pretty good too. It's always great to see classical music pieces on youtube. Thank you for putting this.

  • @Walton1008 Singing note for note doesn't make it good. Too fast and sloppy. That is one of the most beautiful pieces in Requiem, it is not supposed to sound anything like this. Do a little research and find a truly great recording of this Requiem then you'll understand.

  • @kalloused Say, what? His performance sounded fine to me. It's a technically-demanding piece, and he was note-perfect. The fact that you don't personally like his interpretation doesn't mean that it was objectively a "bad" performance.

I wish people would stop assuming that they are the supreme arbiters of the "right" way to interpret musical works. Some people like it one way, some people like it another. This is not a "bad" performance merely because it doesn't suit your personal tastes.

  • That soprano is excellent!

  • wow. exiting :P
