The hand position this person is showing is called "JieYin" or "conjoin the hands" and it's -opposite- for women, right hand over left. She is holding the -male- version of JieYin, and also is not sitting in the Lotus position but cross-legged. Maybe that's the way she was taught, I don't know, but it makes no sense to me either way. If you're going to post instructional videos on YouTube, you might want to check your facts first is all I'm saying.
@Aluminata I'm sorry, but that's complete and utter nonsense. Sleeping in order to achieve a sense of now? Uhm.
Sleep does not equal mediation! Also, when you sleep you can actually disconnect from the body and travel to other dimensions. If you're not careful you can get stuck there. If you go into sleep with the intent to "travel" anywhere, you could be asking for trouble.
For anyone curious about meditation and enlightenment, I'd recommend having a look at Falun Gong.
To seek is to drift out of the "now" into the realms of what will be. The present cannot be found in the future. To ignore the a numbing gluteus maximus is the action of a deserate seekers' desire to remain awake and focused on the prospect of illumination. Get into your favorite sleeping position and immerse your mind in the now-catch the tendancy to drift in memory or imagination - invariably you will soon fall asleep. Good! That is non attachment to the concept of achieving illumination .
